Attended by nearly 300 guests, this signature event raised close to $90,000 in crucial funds for the organization. Highlights included a wine reception with top Miami civic and community leaders such as Florida State Representative David Richardson, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman, City of Miami Springs Mayor Zavier Garcia, Judge Cindy Lederman and Judge William Gladstone. It also featured a raffle with sought-after prizes, including a seven (7) night cruise courtesy of Royal Caribbean, as well as travel, leisure, restaurant and cultural experiences. Two young adults formerly in foster care were also present to share their experiences with luncheon attendees.
“The revenue raised through Claws for Kids is Florida Foster Care Review’s most important source of unrestricted funds,” said Candice L. Maze, Florida Foster Care Review’s Executive Director. “Our goal is to leverage our 25 years of organizational expertise to tackle some of the most pressing problems facing abused and neglected children in our community. This event allows us to launch new initiatives and to broaden our advocacy efforts on behalf of all children in our child welfare system,” added Maze.
