Engage: Judge Ruiz Swears in New FFCR Volunteers
On Tuesday morning, October 17th, Judge Mavel Ruiz of the 11th Judicial Circuit, Juvenile Division swore in 15 new Florida Foster Care Review volunteers. New volunteers take the Citizen Review Panel Oath of Office that allows them to serve on one of our 15 Citizen Review Panels and to review the safety, stability, and well-being of children and youth in foster care. Once the volunteers took the Oath, the Judge reiterated her respect for the Citizen Review Panel volunteers and the work that they do on behalf of foster children.
Our new volunteers also had the opportunity to observe Judge Ruiz in action. Court observations such as these provide an excellent opportunity for volunteers to better understand the many issues that arise in child welfare cases and underscore the partnership between the Citizen Review Panels and the judiciary.
We sincerely appreciate Judge Ruiz’s willingness to take the time to meet our new volunteers and for her ongoing support of FFCR’s programs. If you are interested in learning more about our work or becoming a volunteer, please visit www.fostercarereview.org.
