Engage: 2017 Child Protection Summit
Engage: 2017 Child Protection Summit
Dedicated to bettering the lives of kids and youth in foster care, ensuring their well-being and long-term success, Florida Foster Care Review team members attended the largest child welfare event in Florida at the end of the month—the 2017 Child Protection Summit in Orlando, Florida. It is the 20th year anniversary for this special event, where child welfare professionals from all over, come together and exchange techniques, best practices, and relevant training topics with one another with the same goal in mind- making sure the best interest of these children are top priority.
Last year, the experience was wonderful and FFCR staff presented a workshop on “Harnessing the Power of the Judicial Review Process to Influence Positive Outcomes”. Since Florida Statute requires Judicial Review Hearings every six months, the workshop was geared towards providing tools to organize and properly prepare for these hearings to ensure they follow an integrated approach and lead to the best outcomes for these children and youth.
This year, over 3,000 child welfare professionals attended the summit, providing an excellent opportunity to network and exchange ideas with colleagues from around the state. FFCR staff also participated in a “Circuit Breakout” session with the hundreds of attendees from Miami-Dade County – including our dependency court judges, Department of Children and Families (DCF) and OurKids leadership.
FFCR is devoted to facilitating a better tomorrow for abused and neglected youth. For more information on how you can make a difference in their lives please visit our website.
