FFCR Citizen Review Panel Volunteer & Program Coordinator Receives 2017 Outstanding Child Welfare Professional Award
With family, colleagues, and friends looking on, Florida Foster Care Review’s Charlet Pouchie received the 2017 Outstanding Child Welfare Professional Award on December 7, 2017, during the Miami-Dade Community Based Care Alliance Annual Regional Child Welfare Conference Awards Ceremony.
Charlet joined FFCR in June of 1997 – after spending three months as a volunteer. During her time with FFCR, she has served as our File Clerk, Review Assistant and, since January 2014, as our Citizen Review Panel Volunteer & Program Coordinator. Charlet works closely with our 85 volunteers – working around their schedules to schedule them for their panel days, keeping our review calendars updated and sharing with all the relevant parties. She works closely with the Clerk’s office, with each Judge’s assistant and with the Administrative Office of the Court.
Charlet began her career in the banking and finance sector. However, for the five years prior to joining FFCR, she was unemployed and a single mother of three on welfare. Charlet credits FFCR for giving her an opportunity to get her life on track – for giving her a new way of life. She pays this forward by trying to inspire those who are struggling – whether they are case managers, parents, volunteers, or youth. She does this every day with an open heart and generous smile.
Charlet truly embodies the values of an Outstanding Child Welfare Professional and we are privileged to call her a colleague and a friend.
