Impact: My Miami Story
Last month, we joined Miamians across the county to share our Miami Story— who we are, where we are going, and what we can do to get there. My Miami Story was introduced by The Miami Foundation, bringing community members together to discuss how we can strengthen and build an even greater Miami. Miami natives, locals and expats were invited to host or attend a My Miami Story event with the purpose of learning what matters to all of us and sharing how we can reach these goals.
In support of The Miami Foundation’s initiative, Florida Foster Care Review hosted a group of our volunteers and discussed topics ranging from transportation, civic engagement, economy, and education, to housing and affordability, health and safety, and more. During the discussion, we emphasized topics that participants felt strongly about, next steps to addressing challenges, and individuals’ personal goals. Participants were encouraged to share and learn from each other’s experiences.
At FFCR, we believe in helping each child based on their individual needs and to actively advocate and engage with community stakeholders to improve the child welfare system. Everyone should have someone to call family, and our volunteers and staff are dedicated to creating opportunities to fulfill this need for every child we serve.
